slimming middle stripe

A lot of stylists have a hard and fast rule for all shapes and sizes "never horizontal stripes!".  I disagree.  With this jacket, the dark stripe down the middle is very hard to not look at, drawing the eye to the middle vertical line on the jacket.  I think that has a slimming effect when the jacket is done up.
